Late 2006
Special Event: October 15th, 2006 - 11a.m. - 5 p.m.
Guest of Honor: James Elliot-Bishop Gladding McBean expert and author of Franciscan, Catalina, and Other Gladding, McBean Wares & Franciscan Hand-Decorated Embossed Dinnerware. James will be present to answer question and sign copies of his books.

James Elliot-Bishop began collecting Franciscan in 1982 when his mother gave him the family dishes purchased in the 1950's. The set was Franciscan Ivy. Many pieces were chipped or broken and had to be replaced. Though money was tight, he managed to purchase quite a few replacements before the plant closed 1984. After discovering second-hand pieces in local antique stores, the collecting madness began.

In 1989, James became an employee in one of his favorite antique stores. He soon became a partner and later opened a shop of his own. James began the Franciscan Collectors Club and the Franciscan Newsletter in 1994 and, with his years of research in the history of Gladding McBean and Franciscan, wrote two definitive books: Franciscan, Catalina, and Other Gladding, McBean Wares, 2001, and Franciscan Hand-Decorated Embossed Dinnerware, 2004.
