Firing Services

The Ceramics Studio at AMOCA is pleased to be able to offer the use of our amazing gas and electric kiln to local artists for firing services. We charge either per piece or per kiln load. We are proud to have 3 large gas kilns with computerized timing and temperature management - We have a 10 cubic foot, a 20 cubic foot and a 40 cubic foot kiln, all of which are available in partial or complete loads.

Rules for firing:

• Please note: All GAS kilns will be loaded, programmed, fired, and unloaded by The Ceramic Studio’s technician. Artist may participate, but will not load, program, fire, and unload gas kilns alone.
• All GAS kilns are for cone 10 glazes only.
• If you would like a technician to load, fire, and unload your work in the electric kilns, please call to make arrangements. There is no extra charge for this service.
• If you damage a shelf due to your glazing technique or the construction of your piece you are responsible for replacing with a new shelf.
• If you damage a kiln you will be charged accordingly.
• Please show proof of AMOCA membership at the time of kiln sign up.

For AMOCA Member Artists

(who aren't members of The Ceramic Studio):

PER PIECE FIRING FEE: (bisque or glaze)

$.05 a cubic inch.
To calculate the cost to fire your work, simply measure H” x W” x D” and then multiply that number by $.05
Example: 5”x4”x4”=80 cubic inches x $.05 = $4.00

BY THE GAS KILN LOAD:

10 Cubic Foot Geil Gas Kiln
Full load of bisque (cone 06-cone 04) = $65.00
Full load of glaze cone 10 = $100.00 plus use of studio glazes and technician fee.

20 Cubic Foot Geil Gas Kiln
Full load of bisque (cone 06-cone 04) = $130.00
Full load of glaze cone 10 = $200.00 plus use of studio glazes and technician fee.

40 Cubic Foot Geil Gas Kiln
Full load of bisque (cone 06-cone 04) = $235.00
Full load of glaze cone 10 = $385.00 plus use of studio glazes and technician fee.

For OUTSIDE ARTISTS

(Who don't belong to AMOCA):

PER PIECE (bisque or glaze):

$.07 a cubic inch.
To calculate the cost to fire your work, simply measure H” x W” x D” and then multiply that number by $.07
Example: 5”x4”x4”=80 cubic inches x $.07 = $5.60

BY THE GAS KILN LOAD:

10 Cubic Foot Geil Gas Kiln
Full load of bisque (cone 06-cone 04) = $125.00
Full load of glaze cone 10 = $175.00 plus use of studio glazes and technician fee.

20 Cubic Foot Geil Gas Kiln
Full load of bisque (cone 06-cone 04) = $200.00
Full load of glaze cone 10 = $300.00 plus use of studio glazes and technician fee.

40 Cubic Foot Geil Gas Kiln
Full load of bisque (cone 06-cone 04) = $325.00
Full load of glaze cone 10 = $450.00 plus use of studio glazes and technician fee.
